Good day Mobsters!

It was brought to my attention last night by a fellow Mobster that there was sighting of a SpongeTech product at PUBLIX!  Being that Publix is the fifteenth largest retailer in the U.S. and has over 1,000 stores it obviously caught my attention. Speaking as a Floridian we have one at what seems like every corner so a new mission to verify this news was a must.

More info on Publix: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publix

You may remember our 1st successful Mission if not you can follow it here: Operation SpongeTech Products – Mission is a SUCCESS!

To make it a bit more entertaining I figured I would share the 2nd mission with you in detail. It was a cold and rainy day, my hands were chilled and my heart was pumping…ok lol..I won’t get that detailed, but here we go!

I dropped into the closest Publix which is only a couple of miles from home base. It didn’t take long to call this mission a success, went over to the car care products and BAM, what do I see? “SpongeTech’s Eliminator Chamois” SCORE!!!

Ohhhhhh but wait boys and girls there’s more…and this part gets a little fun. I asked myself hmmmm, I wonder if our good friend Spongebob is any where to be found? Well after going up and down the isles 2-3 times and asking about 8 clerks there was no sign of Spongebob, just as I was about to cry on the way to the cashier with my Eliminator Chamois, something told me to stop.

I once again asked myself hmmmmm. The Chamois looked freshly stocked so let me get a manager and just see if maybe there is some word. I bypassed the cashier and went up to the Customer Service desk, before I could even get to the manager one of the ladies there asked if she could help. Well, I told her I was curious about a product…when I told her what it was she laughed at me and said “yes we have them I actually snuck one in the back to take home with me after work” I didnt want to say she was full of it, but I asked her if I could please see it. (had my doubts) She said sure, went in the back room, grabbed it and laid it on the counter (you can see on picture 7 I took a quick snapshot of it on the counter when she turned to help a customer lol) Afterwords she said I could have it if I wanted it and she would just get another on the way out. Without hesitation I snagged it and asked if she would help me find them so I could buy more. I mentioned I was up and down all isles and couldnt find them any where.

Now me AND the lady went on a mission ha, after asking another 4 or 5 clerks with no luck she tracked a couple managers which showed us where they were. Well, no wonder we couldn’tfind them they SOLD OUT!! Apparently Spongebob didn’t last very long as they were already gone, since it was the last one I felt bad and offered to give it back to her, but the manager said after all I went through I deserved it and told me to keep it lol.

I did a little happy dance, grabbed my Eliminator Chamois, Spongebob bath Sponge and checked out!

….and that about wraps up another Operation SpongeTech Products mission. Thanks for coming for the ride, hope you had fun, make sure to tip the waitress on the way out!

This is a follow up to post:

To “ad” or not to “add” – THAT IS THE QUESTION?

-The Sponge Mob purchases TEN THOUSAND SHARES of SpongeTech (SPNG)

Ok although it seems the issue has died down some we don’t want any one to think it was swept under the rug. Once people understood our reasoning behind running ads they were more acceptable to it. As noted in the previous post our plans were to go ahead and run the ads for 1-2 months. This would give us time to test our site and see how much server costs would be to keep us running stable, then see if we could try to offset those costs with ad revenue. Well some good news and some bad news. Some good news is people really seem to be enjoying the site and the community is growing much faster then we had anticipated. Some bad news is a server upgrade is going to be needed in the very near future. We’ve been live for less then 2 weeks and can already foresee an upgrade is inevitable and with the upgrade of servers comes an upgrade in expenses to run those servers. Oh and the ad revenue to help? haaaa! Yes, I will be completely honest in saying that we have made some ad revenue to date, but hardly enough to afford dinner for 2 at McDonalds let alone cover server costs. Not to sound ungrateful or anything, because every little bit does help, but that help alone will NOT keep us running.

So we had to think and think quick. We need to help raise funds or atleast set something up that can help us in the future. Well one of The Sponge Mob members “TheCommish” gave us an idea (maybe was just a joke) but we didnt take it as one and decided to run with it…..

as of today August 25th, 2009 The Sponge Mob is currently holding a position in SpongeTech Delivery Systems (SPNG) of 10 Thousand shares, purchased @ .1566

So how does that help us now? Myself as well as 2 of my associates that helped with the creation of the site decided we would cover the costs of the 10K shares up front AND the server upgrade expenses when they come. Why would we do this you ask? Well honestly we have enough faith and confidence in SpongeTechthat we hope in time the 10K shares we purchased as well as all additional server costs and the numerous hours spent creating the site will all come back to us when that 10k shares prospers along with SpongeTech….If SpongeTech tanks, well we are out alot of time and money to say the least, but if we envisioned that happening would we have purchased 10 thousand shares?

We didn’t want to go looking for hand outs or begging people to click ads, membership fees etc. So although quite the risk for us, we felt this was the best move for the community and its future. All that we ask is that you please tell a friend and have that friend tell a friend. The more awareness we can build for TheSpongeMob.com the more awareness that can be built for SpongeTech. When that happens we ALL WIN! Not only do we all win, but you are helping us recoup some of our expenses which can help us keep the community alive!

Also just a future reminder, if you should notice the site go down it should only be for 10-15 minutes or so, it’s just a server burp/traffic over load. If it goes down for longer then 15-20 Minutes odds are we have already under went the server upgrade (within the next week or 2). That can take a few hours, so don’t panic we are not going any where and will be back better then ever.

10K Shares LONG and STRONG!

How’s it going fellow sponge mobbers? The Sponge Father here reporting from Sunny South Florida! We have a little treat to kick off “The Sponge Mob Exclusives” which will consist of things such as photo galleries or articles that were released exclusively for or by The Sponge Mob members and supporters.

This go around we will be trying to put some basher claims to rest. I do realize this is a location pending experiment, but it will atleast give you a general idea so that you are not to be mislead by any false claims. You most likely have heard bashers stating that locating and purchasing SpongeTech products at retail stores was either lies or was so limited that you would have to drive 40-50 miles just to track a product down. These claims are FALSE and I hope that after coming along with us on this mission it will ease any doubts, concerns or worries.

As mentioned, we are located in South Florida in a fairly small city. Just fyi. Our experiment was to see how long it would take us to track down a SpongeTech product after watching their commercial at home base. Needless to say our “Operation SpongeTech Products” was a SUCCESS!!

SpongeTech claims to have products stocked @ CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, aswell as Ace Hardware to name a few. Well we happen to have 2 walgreens, a CVS and an Ace Hardware all within a mile or 2 from home base (walking distance). But that couldn’t be could it? Bashers say hard to get? = WRONG! And unlike bashers we come prepped with proof!!

First target “CVS Pharmacy” = SCORE!! (View photos below)

Side Note: We were a little upset that they were playing hide-n-go-seek on the shelf and there was only 2 left, we scooped one up and made sure to leave one at the edge. Funny thing was the next day I had to swing in for a couple quick things and happend to look for the heck of it, only to find out the last one had been sold. This CVS = SOLD OUT!

Second target “Walgreens” = SCORE!! (View photos below)

Side Note: They had plenty in stock, 6 or 7 of them.

Third target “Ace Hardware” = SCORE!! (View photos below)

Sidenote: We noticed Ace Hardware was charging 14.99 where as CVS and Walgreens only charged 9.99 We wondered if it has anything to do with product placement? Because if you notice SpongeTech’s products are right at the top and it’s sitting directly in front of the store opening where hundreds of people check out daily right by that register/counter. We purchased one and there was one left in stock, the lady did mention that on the other side of the register there was more stocked, but have since sold out on that rack. We all got pretty tickled, when she said “alot of people have been asking about these damn sponges”. Was music to our ears, the way we acted she must have thought “damn these guys really take their sponges serious”. (taking pictures etc lol)

Fourth target another “Walgreens” (view photos below)

Side Note: This walgreens was not like the one prior. They only had one left in stock which we scooped up and left the shelf a ghost town. This walgreens = SOLD OUT!

So I have to ask you, was that all that hard? Nope, once again bashers just bashing with no standing. We are batting 100% 4 stores and 4 scores!! All within a couple miles from each other and home base. There was actually even a PetSmart another mile or so away which I’m sure is stocking Uncle Normans Products, but after hitting 4 stores we figured we made our point, and could deem our experiment a Success!

Operation SpongeTech Products – Mission is a SUCCESS! 4 for 4! (view photos below)

Honestly I knew this would arise. Not even 2 days live and this already seems to be an issue. We have nothing to hide so lets speak on it. I told a few friends that helped with the creation of this site that for some reason ads freak people out. In all honesty I’m so used to them they really don’t bother me, but that’s beside the point. Ultimately this site was made for the people, so we really want the peoples input.

Take a walk in our shoes and understand why we originally decided to put them on. When we were creating this site obviously domain/hosting were going to be an expense off the bat. How much? We don’t really know, all will depend on the amount of bandwidth we end up needing to keep the site stable. Now we could have just went with some free hosting and a free sub domain, here’s the catch with that. The servers are normally set to very minimal bandwith allowances and the site would constantly be going down, not to mention with free hosting they place ads on the site any way lol. You want them off you have to pay.

Well, we decided to pay. No biggie we figured ads would help cover those expenses. Sounds fair right? Well some people don’t seem to think so. I assume they feel the sole purpose of this site was to try and collect ad revenue. (Which in all honesty is far from the truth) If the majority of people in the community feel this way we will have no problem removing them. Our pockets are not that deep mind you, so having additional expenses would really blow, but like I said if it take us having to remove them to prove why this site was made then we will. Please share your input!

Here’s another good watch! They don’t really get direct, but if you notice when they are in Walgreens he says “Here is where the Highest Sellers are placed” If you noticed SpongeTech Products just so happen to be conveniently placed in that prime location, on a premium shelf. Nice!!
